“Words of Thought”
March 1st, 2025
Below is a writing taken from a daily devotional book I have. The Author is unknown.
A man’s conscience is the Lord’s searchlight exposing his hidden motives.
“Hurl the stones at her until she dies. But only he who never sinned may throw the first!” And the Jewish leaders slipped away one by one, beginning with the eldest.
“Who told you you were naked?” the Lord God asked. “Have you eaten fruit from the tree I warned you about?”
Knowing what is right to do and then not doing it is sin. If we have bad consciences and feel that we have done wrong, the Lord will surely feel it even more, for he knows everything we do. But, dearly loved friends, if our consciences are clear, we can come to the Lord with perfect assurances and trust.
There is nothing wrong with meat, but it is wrong to eat it if it makes another stumble. Happy is the man who does not sin by doing what he knows is right.
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test my thoughts. Point out anything you find in me that makes you sad, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
Below are scriptures related to the above writing. All are from the KJV Bible.
The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly. Proverbs 20:27
So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. John 8:7-9
And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? Genesis 3:11
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. James 4:17
For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. 1 John 3:20,21
For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.— Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth. Romans 14:20, 22
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23,24
May these “Words of Thought” be a blessing unto you.
