SCVTexas.org Media Submission Guidelines
We welcome photographs, videos, logos and graphics from Camps, Brigades, members and event organizers across the Texas Division.
These guidelines help us present your submissions clearly and professionally on SCVTexas.org, social media and in Texas Division publications. Do not worry if you are unfamiliar with image sizes or file formats. Submit the best original file you have and our communications team will review it.
General Guidelines
Submit the Original File
Whenever possible, send the original photograph, video or graphic directly from the phone, camera or computer where it was created.
Images copied from Facebook, downloaded from a website or included as screenshots are often smaller and may not reproduce clearly.
Keep It Relevant
Submissions should relate to the Sons of Confederate Veterans, our historical and educational mission, Texas Division activities, Camp news, heritage defense, memorials or approved events.
Use Clear Media
Please choose photographs and videos that are clear, properly lit and easy to understand. Avoid heavily filtered, blurry or severely compressed files whenever possible.
Photograph Guidelines
For the best website and publication results:
- Send the largest available version of the photograph.
- Landscape photographs are preferred when available.
- Try to keep faces and important subjects clearly visible.
- Avoid photographs with large watermarks, stickers or decorative filters.
- JPEG and PNG files are preferred.
- A resolution of approximately 1920 × 1080 or larger is ideal.
Portrait photographs may still be accepted when they are the best or only available image.
Video Guidelines
For the best results:
- Record in 720p or higher when possible.
- 1080p is preferred.
- MP4 and MOV files are generally the easiest to use.
- Hold the phone or camera steady.
- Record in a well-lit location.
- Make sure voices can be heard clearly over background noise.
Please submit original video files rather than videos downloaded from social media.
Logos and Graphics
Original logo and graphic files are preferred.
SVG, AI or EPS files provide the best quality, but high-resolution PNG and JPEG files may also be submitted.
Please avoid sending:
- Screenshots of logos
- Small website thumbnails
- Logos copied from social media
- Images with important portions cut off
When an original logo file is unavailable, submit the clearest and largest version you have.
Before Submitting
Please include:
- The name of the Camp, Brigade or organization
- The name and date of the event
- The location
- The names of people shown, when known
- A brief explanation of what is happening
- The name of the photographer or person providing the media
Review and Use
All submissions will be reviewed before publication. Some files may need to be cropped, resized, lightly edited or reformatted to fit the website or publication.
Media that cannot be used because of file quality, content, copyright concerns or technical limitations may be declined. When practical, the communications team may contact the sender and request a better file.
When in doubt, please submit what you have. We would rather help locate a usable version than miss an important story, event or moment from across the Texas Division.
