The Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans, will participate in a Memorial Service and Flag Raising Ceremony at Blair Confederate Cemetery near Doddridge, Arkansas, beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026.

Honoring the 13th Texas Cavalry
The ceremony will honor 30 soldiers of the 13th Texas Cavalry who died from disease at this location during the summer of 1862.
The Texas Division is furnishing the large Texas flags that will be raised during the ceremony and will fly over the cemetery in perpetuity.
The 13th Texas Cavalry included men from the following Texas counties:
- Anderson County — Company D
- Angelina County — Company F
- Cherokee County — Company B
- Leon County — Company A
- Henderson County — Company E
- Houston County — Companies B and C
- Hunt County
- Jasper County — Company G
- Kaufman County
- Madison County
- McLennan County
- Newton County — Company H
- Orange County — Company I
- Polk County
- Trinity County
- Tyler County — Company K
The death toll at Blair Confederate Cemetery included men from every company except Company A of Leon County.
Texas Division Brigades containing these counties include the 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th and 12th Brigades. Representatives from these counties and Brigades are especially encouraged to attend and help honor the men of the 13th Texas Cavalry.
Memorial Roll Call
A Roll Call of the deceased soldiers will be conducted at the conclusion of the ceremony.
Thirty attendees will be selected to answer the Roll Call in honor of the 30 men who died at this location.
Attendees are encouraged to wear their period uniforms. Ladies, families and members of the public are also welcome to attend.
Brigade Commanders are asked to distribute this information to their Camps and encourage participation in this important event. The ceremony provides an opportunity to honor these Texas soldiers and further the historical and memorial mission expressed in The Charge.
